It becomes a need to protect the teeth during a boxing session, especially when I know that there is a strong punch incoming. I have found a few of the best mouthguards for boxing that I currently use and would suggest the same.
Keep reading where I will talk more about the features to look for in a mouthguard and the best types of mouthguards that I have personally tested.
The Purpose of Mouthguards for Boxing
Okay, so the reason why I strongly feel the need to use mouthguards is that we never know what the next move of our opponent might be. I mean, I personally wouldn’t want a fractured or dislocated jaw or any serious face injury HAHA.
In this way, the mouthguards have been my protectors against strong punches as they act like shields for the force without letting my jaw affected.
Types of Mouthguards
I believe there are generally 3 types of Mouthguards:
The first one is the Stock Mouthguards that are ready-made and very convenient, but I personally don’t feel like it may be the best fit.
Next, is the Boil-and-Bite Mouthguards that is to be put into hot water and then chew it tight, which makes it a semi-custom mold for my mouth. I have used these ones a lot but i have recently changed them to Custom-Fitted Mouthguards.
And last but not least, the Custom-Fitted Mouthguards are my personal favorite. They fit perfectly to my teeth and are super comfortable. They are a little pricey but protect well and give the right balance to the face, which I believe, is really important.
3 Best Mouthguards for Boxing
Shock Doctor Gel Max Power Mouthguard
The Shock Doctor Gel Max Power Mouthguard is one of my favorite choices. This mouthguard is super comfortable and provides protection that is beyond my expectations. The gel-fit liner molds perfectly to my teeth which literally feels like a cozy pillow for my mouth.
What I love about this mouthguard is that it comes with a custom fit which is so light that I actually forgot that I am even wearing one. I can say that you will definitely not regret purchasing this.
Venum Challenger Mouthguard
I have recently talked about the Venum Elite Boxing Gloves and according to me, just like those gloves, the Venum Challenger Mouthguard is also super amazing. These are super reliable and so affordable for its features.
The mouthguard nicely packs a strong punch that does not affect my jaw at all. Another thing that I like about this mouthguard is the design that looks super classy and also fits well without falling. I totally vouch for the Venum Mouthguards.
SISU Aero Mouthguard
My third favorite is the SISU Aero Mouthguard which looks very beautiful and protects amazingly. I feel like the minimalist design may not catch your eye at first sight but this mouthguard is more about the business than the looks.
It is so thin that you will barely even notice it’s there; which is a good thing for easy breathing and focusing more on my opponent.
Conclusion
I believe mouthguards for boxing are not only an accessory but also very essential for protection against any serious jaw or mouth injury. I have faced it all and would definitely recommend you get one of the above-recommended favorites. I would say that I have personally tried these mouthguards and have had a really good experience with them.
